Interactive Mechanism Simulation Toolbox

Abstract


Mechanical engineering students study closed planar mechanisms as part of the second year Mechanics of Machines course. Interactive and graphical mechanism design and analysis software is aimed for the purpose of becoming a teaching aid. This thesis has extended previous work to develop a MATLAB software package entitled Interactive Mechanism Simulation Toolbox. The software package is capable of interactive and graphical mechanism design, and kinematic analysis of the designed mechanism. Additionally, user selected kinematic properties are graphed upon completion of the mechanism simulation.
